Generative on Tezos blockchain, 2022.
'Origami' (2022) is Fabio Catapano's first generative artwork on Tezos's blockchain. The artist investigates the human and machine relationship with his work. Inspired by Marshall McLuhan and game theory, the artwork uses the medium to create art with a reward system like the looting mechanics in video games. Every hash generates a rarity level determining some of the artwork's features, such as grid density, colour background, and line outlines. The collector gets a randomised piece based on its rarity level, and the artwork constantly evolves within set values. For the artist, digital art should be screen fluid, constantly changing and co-produced with the machine. The computer isn't only a tool but a creator.
